About Us
Executive Director
Boss Lady Enterprise Foundation was founded by Jennifer Hawthorne in 2019. She is an alum of Southern Illinois University and earned a degree in Hospitality Management. She has worked for a Fortune 500 human capital mgt. company for 24 years and owns a property management business.
Her goal is to use her vast array of skills and knowledge to provide social engineering programs to help develop skills needed to increase economic opportunities to under-served communities, and to support, promote minority women entrepreneurs
History of Boss Lady Enterprise Foundation
BLEF is an Illinois community-based nonprofit organization serving Chicagoland. Launched in 2018, BLEF’s mission is to invest in people and communities targeting African American and other under-served communities impacted by persistent social, economic issues, poor environmental conditions and limited opportunities.
